The Dollar and the Disciple: What Does God Say About Money? — Part 2
Money is not evil. Having nice things is not automatically sinful. But what happens when the things God has given us become the things we trust most?
In Part 2 of our conversation on biblical finances, we pick up with one of the questions Christians sometimes struggle to answer: Is it actually okay to enjoy the blessings God has given us?
We talk about enjoying God's gifts without turning them into idols, generosity without trying to buy God's favor, Jesus' warnings about wealth, the rich young ruler, contentment, financial security, and what happens when our possessions begin competing with our relationship with Christ.
We also get into some uncomfortable questions:
If God never gave you more than you have right now, would He still be enough?
What would be the hardest thing for you to surrender if Jesus asked you to give it up?
If God examined your finances, would He see a generous heart or a guarded one?
Are you pursuing financial security more than spiritual maturity?
And perhaps the biggest question of all:
Are you asking God for more while ignoring what He has already placed in your hands?
This is not a message about becoming rich. It is not an argument that poverty is more spiritual. It is a conversation about stewardship, contentment, generosity, obedience, and learning to recognize the difference between enjoying God's blessings and worshiping them.
Because money is a tool.
It just makes a terrible god.
